BOOKING VOUCHER
Once all the rent is received, we will email you a booking voucher which you will need to present at the house on arrival. This requires exact numbers of adults, children and babies, as entered onto the booking form which is sent with the deposit. The staff at the house have to sign the voucher to confirm the numbers of guests match those on the voucher.
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT
Standard Check in is 12 noon and standard Check Out is 10am. Whilst we can be flexible if there is not a booking following immediately, we do need late checkouts to be requested well in advance so we can let you know the situtation. Late check outs are charged at a half-night rate.
TAXI TRANSFERS
We can arrange for Taxi transfers from either Mombasa or Malindi airports. If you would like us to do it please let us have. We will quote you at the time for any taxi transfers.
GROCERIES
Prior to your arrival, we can arrange for groceries to be delivered to the house. We do this by opening an account in your name at Watamu Supermarket and then the groceries are charged to this. You may then use the account throughout your stay and must settle directly with the supermarket before you leave. If you wish us to get in the shopping, please email your specific list (please no ‘pasta for four’ or ‘some sort of veg’). The list must be with us a minimum of 3 working days prior to arrival in order to arrange this. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee deliveries on any order that arrives later than this. Additional deliveries during your stay can be arranged directly with the supermarket.
There may be some items on your list that are not available, and if a replacement chosen does not appeal, you may return it to the supermarket for a refund.
If you wish us to obtain fish, prawns or crabs, these will be arranged by the house staff directly with the fishermen.
ARRIVAL
On arrival at the house, the staff will be there to greet you. There will be a welcome letter for you, which we recommend that you read as it contains useful numbers and information to make your stay a relaxing one.
CLIENT VISITS
When you have settled in, and during work hours, you will receive a visit from a representative of WPS to see how you are and to give you any information or help you may need. If you do not wish to be visited please let us know and we will let you get on with your holiday in peace.
FISH PRICES
We highly recommend that you do all deals when buying fish, prawns, lobsters, crabs etc. directly with the fisherman and that you are there to witness the weighing in of your order. If you want a guideline to prices, we have included it within your welcome pack. This system deters the cooks and fishermen from being tempted to add an extra bob or two. General rules of thumb to be aware of include;
Remove any ice that may be amongst the prawns and thus making them seem heavier.
Check the prawns underneath as they are likely to be smaller than the ‘display’ prawns on top.
Crabs during full moon tend to have less meat inside the shells even if the shells themselves are large.
Fish that may be ‘fresh’ could actually be from the day before and frozen overnight, sometimes longer – ask your cook to check it is fresh and not recently defrosted.
Small lobsters/crayfish should not be caught locally as it depletes stocks so please do not buy them. As a rule of thumb, the head of any lobster should not be less than 80mm.
DEEP SEA FISHING
We can arrange full or half days fishing for you – it is better that this is done in advance, especially during the months of December through until March as this is the busy time. A day’s fishing for 4 people is approximately £400 per day, not including tips and food – contact us for a full quotation and availability of boat.
CAR HIRE
We can put you in touch with people who can arrange your car hire – as a guideline you can expect to pay approximately Ksh 3,000/ to Ksh 3,500/- per day on a Third Party only basis for a standard saloon and prices go up from there.

MOSQUITOS
Do take the risk of Malaria seriously and take the right medicine for you and your children. Use Mosquito repellent and spray inside nets before going to bed (your staff will most likely do this for you). Remember that the mosquito that gives you Malaria has to have bitten someone with Malaria in order to transfer it to you, so the places to be most vigilant are bars and restaurants outside where the greatest variety of people meet. Symptoms of Malaria can take 2 weeks to a year after a bite to emerge. If you are at all worried then go to the Doctor’s surgery (042 2332046) where the Laboratory Technician will do a blood test that will tell you within 20 minutes whether or not you have Malaria and if you have the surgery will offer the appropriate treatment.
